Welcome > Christmas message

Christmas Message from NZSLTA President

A warm greeting to all from NZSLTA President.

I would like to warmly welcome our new National Administrator, Lucy Dunbar. She has started in her new job two weeks ago and come from England. Lucy will work 15 hours a week. We are very lucky to have Lucy, so we can focus on moving ahead with NZSLTA business. Welcome Lucy!

Also a warm welcome to Sonia Pivac, our new Resources Coordinator. Sonia will work 5 hours per week overseeing the purchases of resources. You can look up resources on the website and there is an updated order form, which means you can order any resources you wish to purchase. Please buy our discounted videos, a nice gift for Christmas. Welcome Sonia!

I would like to inform you all that we have changed our association name to New Zealand Sign Language Teachers Association (Inc). We are working on improving the system for our members to become registered as NZSL Teachers and Tutors.

NZSL Tutors Training weekends have been going very well during term 3 and 4, in 2006. Great news, we are able to continue having tutors training weekends until our funding from Tertiary Education Commission is completed. Please contact me if you would like a tutors training weekend during term 1, possibly term 2 so I can arrange a suitable weekend for a NZSL Trainer to attend and assist you all. Please email me at mcghie.sh@xtra.co.nz

We have had our Executive committee meeting and we concentrated on our Strategy Plan for the next two years. We are looking forward to many, positive projects and develop a better system for our membership and organisation.

NZSLTA Executives and I hope you all have a happy and safe holiday season and get to spend quality time with your family and closest friends.

Shona McGhie, NZSLTA President
